How do I rent a house for Derby?

Why should I rent one of the homes advertised here?

Louisville-area hotels are expensive and book quickly Derby weekend, sometimes years in advance. A home rental usually gets you more space for less money and often in a better location. And it’ll make it easier to spend your time with friends and family.

While it’s never been asked, just to make sure you’re aware: Derby Home Rental LLC and this website are not in anyway affiliated with or endorsed by the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs, or any of its affiliates.

How does this site work?

Louisville homeowners interested in renting their homes for Derby pay a flat fee to advertise on this site. They submit the descriptions and photos of their homes and set the prices. Each home available for rent is pictured with a brief description on this site’s home page. If you see a home that interests you, select its photo; that’ll take you to a page with more details about that home, including the rental price.

If you’re interested in renting the property or have more questions, contact info for each homeowner is listed on that house’s page. You’ll need to contact the homeowners directly to rent a home or ask questions—Derby Home Rental LLC has no additional information about the homes beyond what the homeowners submitted for their ads.

Do you know of any other homes for rent?

The only Louisville-area homes I know of for rent during Derby weekend are the ones that paid to advertise on this site. The site’s inventory changes rapidly, especially in the January-Derby timeframe, with more homes being added all the time—we’ve even had new homes advertise the week of Derby itself. If you don’t see a home that fits your needs, please keep checking back—or get notified when new homes advertise by following us on FacebookLinkedIn, and Twitter, or subscribe to our email alerts.

Do you know of a house that sleeps # people and costs around $#,###?

The best way to ascertain that info is to look at each ad.

Are any of these homes available to rent for other Louisville-area events (such as the triathlon or golf tournaments at Valhalla Golf Club)?

Yes! Some homeowners who are interested in renting their homes for events other than Derby specifically mention it in their ads. If an ad doesn’t mention it, feel free to contact the homeowner and ask.

How do I know if the homeowners are trustworthy?

Google them, look at their Facebook and LinkedIn profiles. And, keep in mind, they’ll likely have similar questions about you. Some homeowners and renters have asked for references.
